On October 13 and 14, 2025, Lisa Kristine was in Romania as a guest of eLiberare, a movement against human trafficking and sexual exploitation, for EU Anti-Trafficking Day. She addressed a parliamentary session, took part in a cross-sector roundtable, and opened a dignity-first photography exhibition. Human Thread board members Rand Rosenberg and Scott Cunningham joined her.
The roundtable, with eLiberare and Romania’s Joint Special Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, looked at prevention and protection. Initiatives presented included SafeON 2025-2026, a Ministry of Education-endorsed program giving teachers online-safety tools, and Parents in the Digital Age, a guide for families.
Lisa also photographed survivors and visited prisons to speak with people convicted of trafficking. In her keynote she said photography can open the door, but laws, budgets, and law enforcement must walk through it.
