Nuns Healing Hearts opened at United Nations headquarters on July 29, 2019, and ran through August 2. It marked ten years of the Talitha Kum network and was timed to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30. The Holy See’s Permanent Observer Mission to the UN promoted it with the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, supported by the Galileo Foundation.
More than 20 photographs from Italy, the Philippines, Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States showed migrants’ daily lives and the sisters’ care for survivors. A panel before the opening featured Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Sr. Gabriella Bottani, John McCaffrey, Lisa Kristine, and Sr. Melissa Camardo.
